So the Stump Grinder was at the neighbors, and I'm thinking, maybe I'll get these stumps knocked out while he's around.  A minute later, he shuts down and starts cussing.

I walked over and the gearbox that drives the cutter was smoking.   He let me know that the gearbox had just been rebuilt.  I asked if he was sure it had oil.  He wasn't and had no tools.  I happened to have the right wrenches and a bottle of gear oil in the shed.  The gear box was bone dry.

That did the trick.  It saved a lot of time for him, and he knocked out three big stumps for me for $100.  I figured I saved a bit.  What does it normally cost to get a stump ground out?
